the crescent moon
glows in neon white
as studio lights
on obsidian water

on the eastern beach
I traverse the harbour wall
part submerged
in the ocean

a balance beam
with rusted iron fingers
creeps out of concrete

with no-one around
to judge
I place an imaginary ball
smoothly on a neck high shelf

the light finally brakes
so I surrender
on a nearby bench
feeling the damp
cross legged

to name the colours
of pastel paint
as they appear
in the sky.
